Pricing Options
Pricing for a specific product is defined within the product. Discounts can then be applied to the product through the product itself, or by adding the product to a Product Category that has a discount set. Discounts can be entered either as a set amount off (Save $20), or by a percentage (Save 20%). Discount prices can be applied for a limited date range, to a specific Contact Group, or to specific volumes being purchased.
Discounting Options
A product’s "list price" can be discounted by creating a "sale". A sale can be attached to a product or a group of products in a Product Category. A sale is assigned a name, start date, end date, and a discount value (relative to the list price of the product). The sale price can be activated on a minimum volume and may be restricted to a maximum number of items.
A product that belongs to multiple Product Categories inherits all active sales from these category groups. The lowest sale price is always displayed, regardless of which category is viewed by the user. Refer to the Insert link: Sales and Discounts additional information about sale pricing, coupons, and strategies to increase the volume of your store.
Category-based Discounting
ShoutCMS supports Category-based discounts that affect all the products that belong to the Category. A Category is any webpage that has products associate to it. The Category discounts are configured from the host page (even though it is not a Product). The discount options are only shown when products have been associated to this “host page”. Category discounts are configured in the same way as Product discounts.
A product can be associated to multiple Product and Category discounts. A discount can be configured based on a valid date range, or entry of a coupon value. When a product is associated to multiple discounts, the lowest price for the product is always displayed.
A best practice is to create a hidden Category for items to be put on sale, configure the discount parameters on this category, and then list products under the category when they are placed on sale. The products will be listed on regular areas of the site with the sales price. Removing the product from the hidden sale category restores the regular price.
Lowest Price Displayed
Pricing and discounts are supported at the Product and Product Category levels. A product can define its own pricing and discount options; however, when the product is associated to one or more groups, it inherits the sale options that are defined for the group. When associated to more than one group, the product is sold at the lowest sale price from all points of access on the store. (Stop at indicated cost limit?)
Create and manage Product Discounts by a single Product or entire Category of products. Note: You can create one or more discounts for each product. You can also create member and volume discounts.
