You can configure stock levels for inventory tracking, ensuring that when a user purchases a product online you will have it in-stock.
Action Steps:
Modify a Product
Scroll down and click to open the Stock
Click Yes (by default no is selected)
Fill out the following fields
Stock Counts
Stock
This is your stock bin. It includes all inventory within your store. It is the sum of all Reserved and Available Stock. This number is based on physical inventory counts within your store.
Ordered
This is a count of the stock which is currently sitting within the order system which has not yet been completed. This stock is considered reserved until the order is either completed or it is cancelled. When an order is cancelled it will removed from the Reserved Count and placed back inside of the Available Count. When an order is completed it will decrement the stock inside of the Reserved, Physical, Tracked Counts.
Available
This is the stock which is available for sale and is not currently outgoing. This is your Physical minus your Available counts.
IMPORTANT: Orders must be shipped from the store before Total in Stock count is decremented.
Stock Limits
Low
When your stock goes below this number the product title will display as amber on the product listing page. When your stock goes below 0 the product title will be displayed in red on the product listing page.
High
When your stock goes above this number the product title will display as
amber on the product listing page. This number will also be used in the
inventory screen to recommend an order amount for your next purchase
order.
Storefront Behavior
What should the item behavior be on the storefront when there is no Available stock
Out of stock.
Do Nothing
The storefront behaves as if the item has stock.
Unavailable for Sale
The storefront will remove the item and prevent the item from being bought.
Hide
The storefront will hide the item in it's menus, however it is still possible to purchase.
Show as Out of Stock
The storefront will show the item out of stock, but prevent it's purchase.
Backorder
The storefront will show the item as backordered.
Backorder w/Queue
The storefront will show the item as backordered as well as the queue position.
